Nice and sad.
Wizard of The Coast announced just few hours ago the forthcoming new release of Dungeons & Dragons (v. 4). I personally thought the development of the game kind of dead (never investigated about it though).
I and my group of friends have been playing D&D since it's second version (Ad&d), switched to the 3.5 release more than 1 year ago and enjoyed every minutes of it.
Obviously me and the friends of mine are not the only ones who are happy about it: the servers of the Wizards of the Coasts couldn't handle the traffic and this is the result:
One things makes me sad anyway
The new version will be available only mid-2008 and this means that i won't be (most likely) able to play it with my friends (i'm getting old for playing with miniatures?
) since i will be still working on my Master thesis (if everything goes on smoothly) for the ESST.
So after having slayed hundreds of orks, learned to handle 2 weapons, met and survived to a young black dragon, survived leeches and undead, won beer dinking competitions, gained levels after levels faced the dead several times…my beloved half-elf ranger-druid (13 lv.) won't have the pleasure to play the 4th edition of D&D, at least not anytime in the near future.
Update: Here i found more interesting info about the new release, and as of today the website is up and working again
